'"Removing the red channel"?  First most of the red telephone boxes (booths) go and then the red routemaster buses.  I sincerely hope there no plans for these lovely lamp post boxes, which are found mainly in the countryside, and the better know pillar boxes.  I strongly suspect however that there are, given the state of Royal Mail.  Oh dear - guess I'm just an old fashioned girl at heart (or a Victor Mildrew in the making...)

Aunty Barbs tongue, how are you this fine day? What did you do to the green grass, or is it my laptop playing tricks on my eyes. Okay not enough energy to get out of bed, walk to the study and look at this shot on the PC, will come back tomorrow and comment more.

Have a lovely day & weekend Aunty Barbs tongue

Barbara: You see? They can take the boy out of Naija...but they can't take the Naija out of the boy. Grass ke? pls read IMM's comment below.

Grass? Suby must be really tired Those are ferns and ivy and as such a prone to brownness in places. As for the photo love the composition and complimentary colors. Also the juxtaposition of the shiny mailbox with the overgrowth of greenery. (juxtaposition is one of those words I learned in college and I try to use it whenever I get the chance. Heck, I payed good money to learn that word and dadgummit I'll use it.) It's just a really good capture of an ordinary thing, kinda like Sparklite's tires. Well done.
Barbara: I like the word juxtaposition..perhaps that would be a good theme for shutterchance? Thanks IMM from DDU - have a lovely weekend.

hi barbara,

i absolutely love this shot. i love the contrasting colors of the red mailbox and the green shrubs. i do hope that the mailbox does not go the way of the dodo. it really is a throw back to an earlier era, and to replace it would certainly be an attempt to replace history with a more modern atrocity.
Barbara: Thanks Nicole...I pray they don't. Enjoy your that story really was a hoax..can't wait to see what product is being marketed.

Hi Barbara...mailboxes in England are so beautiful..would be a shame if they are being replaced.
Maybe we could start a petition here on shutterchance? smile
uhmm juxtaposition is not in my dictionary....sad
Barbara: have you found juxtaposition yet wink
here you go...wikipedia to the rescue again..

although I would say it's used more to compare different things as opposed to similar things.

Guess squirrels, racons and foxes have friends and relatives that deserve the odd letter one in a while, well done Royal mail.
