photoblog image Flower Forest - 1
I posting a series of three pics from the Flower Forest in Barbados for my sister who is the best landscape artist I know and an expert on all things flora (oh and of course for my mother from whom she gets this amazing talent)....whereas I'm pretty hopeless .....any guesses as to what this is called? I think I do know - but the gardening guru will confirm.

Sweet! what a cool find. the arrangement is interesting (i see you avoided the predictable, which would've been to place the flower in the middle of the plant). Nice try.
Barbara: Thanks...or maybe I was being predictable...going for the rule of thirds!

this one of the coolest flowers i have ever seen. the red stem contrasts brilliantly againt the green leaves. you have captured some really excellent details. excellent shot.
Barbara: Thank you Nicole

Weird flower...I really like.

Aunty Barbs, Crazy looky flower, looks rather dull though. Why not give the colours a boost.

Suby
Barbara: Why would I want to do that Prof? Those are the real colours..a colour boost would make the white flower slightly pink...which it isn't.

Its lovely. its a costus.same family as the ginger . they grow wild in ohafia but the ants tend to get there before you can take a picture like that. Thank you . xxx
Barbara: ah yes..the spiral ginger...thanks my dear...

Barbara: spiral ginger to us lay people. Costus is the latin name for those in the know...

Aahhh, she challenges the Substers suggestion,

Notice I use the word "colour" and not saturation, Giving the selective colours a slight boost (or not) is the way forward here, so i.e, if you do not want to boost a colour, you ignore it smile
Suby
Barbara: Ok...

Thanks for the level headed womans view on yesterdays shot over at my blog, glad you liked it, the model was so happy with it herself, it was funny, she loves it, i think it made it into her online portfolio before i managed to get it into mine! smile

Ah yes... Spiral Ginger... i knew that.. who wouldn't know that... sheesh.. waht do you take me for? okay.. so i really had no idea.. i just know it looks nice, and that you should ignore suby and do what YOU want, especially when he says "hey! that would look better in monochrome"
